[Simple and Natural: Nordic Cream Style Design]
分享
In Hong Kong's highly compact living environment, small spatial perceptions, insufficient storage space, and chaotic styles are common problems faced by most homeowners. When designing, one needs to meet the practical needs of daily living while also aiming to create a warm, healing, aesthetically pleasing, and functional home environment. The minimalist natural Nordic cream style is a viable option. For example, this unit adopts the popular cream-colored wood minimalist design throughout the home, using pure cream-white walls as the base, complemented by warm light oak veneer running through the TV background wall and floating TV cabinet, foregoing complex decorations and returning to the essence of simple comfort.
Maximizing Living Room Space

The first space that catches the eye is the living room, which is a concentrated expression of Design House HK's design philosophy. We abandoned cumbersome and superfluous decorative piling, choosing light oak wood grain veneer paired with pure white lacquered cabinets as the main basic materials for the entire home. The soft wood texture neutralizes the coldness of reinforced concrete in high-rise residential buildings, and the off-white walls and light gray curtains lay out a subtle and gentle base, creating the most popular cream wood ambiance in Hong Kong homes. The TV background wall adopts a拼接 (splicing) design, with vertical wooden grilles on the upper part to add layering, and cement-textured panels in the middle section to create light industrial details. This is paired with an embedded shelf and a bottom floating TV cabinet, concealing wires while expanding storage space. Ambient light strips are embedded at the top; when turned on in the evening, they softly diffuse light throughout the living room, without the harshness of a main light, but exuding a gentle warmth. The living room is furnished with a soft modular light beige sofa and a round, light coffee table, complemented by a textured rug to soften the lines of the hard floor, providing a comfortable and relaxing spatial experience whether for solo relaxation and watching shows or for small gatherings with friends.

Adjacent to the living room, the entrance foyer area is often overlooked but crucial in Hong Kong unit renovations, and it is a key area that Design House HK designers meticulously honed. Considering the large number of shoes and miscellaneous items in Hong Kong households, we custom-made a floor-to-ceiling combination entrance cabinet. The upper pure white closed wall cabinets store seasonal idle items, the open middle section provides a counter for diffusers, decorations, and daily handbags and keys, while the lower wooden shoe cabinet conceals all shoes. The bottom is left open to store frequently worn slippers, completely solving the problem of clutter at the entrance. Sensor-activated floor lights are embedded beneath the cabinet, automatically lighting up when returning home at night, which is both practical and adds a sense of ceremony. On the side, a minimalist solid wood door and smart lock are paired, creating a cohesive design that perfectly unifies the entrance with the overall home style, breaking the stereotypical impression of a cramped and oppressive traditional entrance and making every return home full of ritual.
Bedroom Design | "Quiet, Storage, Comfort" as Design Principles

As the core space for home relaxation, Design House HK always plans bedroom designs around the three core principles of "quiet, storage, and comfort." The two bedroom layouts in this case fully demonstrate our customized capabilities for different unit structures. The first bedroom features an integrated bedside design. On the left, an L-shaped, floor-to-ceiling combination wardrobe is built with upper and lower divided sections: the upper cabinets store bedding and off-season clothes, while the lower cabinets include hanging areas and drawers for categorized storage of clothes and accessories, maximizing vertical wall space and perfectly addressing the pain point of insufficient wardrobe storage in Hong Kong residences. The headboard and wardrobe are seamlessly integrated with custom wooden wainscoting. A small embedded bedside table is carved out in the middle for alarm clocks, phones, and skincare products, with standard Hong Kong British sockets reserved on the wall to meet daily charging and power needs. A long strip of ambient lighting is embedded at the top of the wainscoting, replacing traditional bedside lamps to avoid direct light exposure to the eyes while lying in bed, creating a soft lighting environment suitable for sleep.

Another bedroom layout focuses on streamlined space utilization, also featuring a full-height, four-door wardrobe to maximize storage. Portions of the wall are adorned with cement-textured panels to enrich details, complemented by minimalist black wall lights and art paintings to accent the space. This adds layers of design on a simple base, meeting diverse usage scenarios whether for single occupancy or couples. From cabinet size measurements, material selection, and electrical wiring, to lighting strip installation, Design House HK designers meticulously plan based on the unit's beam and column structure and ceiling height, avoiding constraints such as pipes and load-bearing structures. This ensures that the design plan is 100% implementable, preventing the awkward situation where "the design looks good, but the renovation cannot achieve it."
Design House HK closely monitors design and renovation progress throughout
From the overall interior design logic to the control of detailed craftsmanship, Design House HK designers first visit the site to measure the unit's dimensions, inspect for structural issues such as beams, columns, pipes, and electrical points. After thoroughly discussing the homeowner's family size, lifestyle habits, storage needs, and budget, they then create a complete set of floor plans, 3D renderings, and construction detail drawings. They follow up on design modifications throughout the process until the homeowner is completely satisfied before commencing construction. During the construction phase, a project manager supervises the entire process, coordinating the progress of various trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, and installation. Unlike most renovation companies in the market where only the site foreman reports progress, homeowners do not need to frequently visit the site to track progress. Construction photo and text updates can be received at any time via WhatsApp, significantly improving communication efficiency. After the renovation is completed, comprehensive after-sales maintenance services are provided, with warranty periods for cabinet hardware, waterproofing, and paint finishes, covering all non-human-caused damages. This provides a worry-free, one-stop service from design and construction to after-sales support.
