There are four common types of wood boards used in furniture customization services in Hong Kong, namely solid wood boards, plywood, high-density fiberboard, and bagasse board. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Because the raw materials and production methods of the four types of boards are different, and the furniture they are used in is also different, the prices will be different. Generally used for high-end furniture
Smaller pieces of wood cut from logs are selected and cut, assembled into boards through finger-joining and splicing techniques, and then glued together to make what is called a solid wood board or solid wood plywood . Features: solid wood puzzle It has the texture and characteristics of logs, is more stable and less prone to deformation than logs . Solid wood boards are mostly used in high-end furniture.
General use: high-end furniture, bed frames (more stable)

To make plywood, the wood must first be cut into thin slices, which are then overlapped vertically and horizontally according to the grain direction of the thin slices, and then glued together, and finally pressed. The staggered overlapping method can make the overall structure of the board strong, enhance the bearing capacity of the board, and at the same time the plywood is not easily deformed by thermal expansion and contraction. Because the amount of glue used is relatively higher than that of solid wood boards, the formaldehyde content is also higher than that of solid wood boards. High-density fiberboard
High-density fiberboard is a man-made board made by mixing finely divided wood powder or wood fiber with resin and glue and pressing at high temperature. The surface of fiberboard is smoother and flatter than that of logs, and it is easy to cut and shape. Although it is relatively cheap, it has the disadvantages of being easily affected by moisture and deformed and unable to bear weight. Many furniture stores sell furniture made of dense boards.

Bagasse board
Bagasse board is made of fine wood chips (particles), added with glue and mildew-proof agents, and pressed at high temperature. The low price is the biggest advantage of bagasse board. However, its disadvantage is that it is easy to expand and deform when exposed to moisture, has a low load-bearing capacity, and is not suitable for large bookcases and desktops. Therefore, it is not recommended to use bagasse board furniture in humid places such as bathrooms and kitchens. At the same time, because the particles are bonded together with glue, the formaldehyde content is the highest.
